WiFi4EU Access Points DLR

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has installed a number of free WiFi points across the County, including outdoor and indoor ones. These include free access points in 13 community centres that are supported by the Council. Other areas with free WiFi access include Dundrum Main Street, Shanganagh Park House, Kilbogget Park, Stepaside Village, Killiney Beach and our Harbour Plaza, which benefits day trippers to our town as well as our overseas visitors. DLR successfully secured EU funding for this project under a WiFi4EU scheme which has the aim of creating connectivity for citizens and visitors in public spaces. Parallel to that, the Department of Rural and Community Development committed to match the EU funding to further enhance the scheme. In line with the dlr Digital Strategy, this provision of connectivity can improve access to the internet for people who may not have access at home. This initiative will enable citizens to connect to the range of public services provided by the Council, as well as to the wider digital economy.
